As a new transfer student to Cortland, please take a moment
and review the transfer credit and General Education waivers posted to your
Curriculum Advising and Program Planning (CAPP) report. You
can view your CAPP via your myRedDragon account. All transfer courses on your CAPP will appear
with a grade of an orange “T” for “transfer,” and the total number of transfer
credits posted will appear at the top of your CAPP.
Transcripts
If you are missing credit, have you requested a final transcript from your previous
institution that reflects your fall 2011 grades? Have you requested AP, CLEP, and IB scores?
Students who have earned transfer credit and have not yet
requested official transcripts to be sent to SUNY Cortland should do so as soon
as possible. Transfer credit can
impact not only your required courses but also your time-ticket to register for
fall and summer courses. March 1 is the upcoming deadline to
receive transcripts to affect time-tickets for fall/summer 2012 registration. Time-tickets are issued based on total number
of credits completed, including transfer credits. Transfer credit will be posted after March 1, but the credit will not impact
time-tickets for registration.
General Education
Waivers
Transfer students may be granted up to three course waivers
that can be applied toward meeting the general education requirements in
Category 11, Category 12, and one of the course requirements in Category 13. Transfer
students are eligible for waivers based on the number of transfer credit hours
according to the following formula:
20-34.5 credit hours - eligible for one (1) waiver
35-49.5 credit hours - eligible for two (2) waivers
50 or more credit hours - eligible for three (3) waivers
You will know you earned a waiver if the course title reads
“Cortland GE Waiver.” If you earned 50
or more transfer credits, the three waivers should have been automatically
applied and will be represented on your CAPP as “CGE 1XX.”
If you are eligible for a waiver
or are simply unsure, make an appointment with your academic advisor to review
your transfer credit and the GE Waiver form.
GE Waiver forms can be downloaded from the Advisement and Transition Web
site (http://www2.cortland.edu/dotAsset/6dad9bff-6a0c-4510-bf35-f6305fb9fbc7.pdf).
Completed forms can be dropped off at the
Advisement and Transition office, Memorial Library A-111, for processing.
