Tips for a
Successful Semester
¨ Familiarize
yourself with myRedDragon. All of your personalized
information can be found via your myRedDragon account.
¨ Understand
your Degree Works audit. Your audit details all your
requirements for graduation. Found on
myRedDragon, this is a valuable tool to keep you on track.
¨ Check
your Cortland email daily. Your Cortland email account is the
primary way the College corresponds with you.
Your email address typically is firstname.lastname@cortland.edu.
¨ Dates
and deadlines are Important. Many academic deadlines are firm, so become
familiar with the deadlines below.
Additional dates can be found in your Student Planner.
¨ Become
familiar with the College Catalog. You are responsible for the
curriculum and academic policies in the 2014-2015catalog since that is the year
you start courses at Cortland.
¨ Meet
with your academic advisor. Your advisor’s name and contact
information can be found on myRedDragon.
Your advisor helps you with course selection but also academic decision
making and planning. You must meet with
your advisor prior to registration for each semester.
Remember to:
o Initiate contact, asking
questions, communicating your concerns
o Learn your degree requirements and
academic policies
o Prepare for appointments
